It is with great sadness that Luper Neidenthal & Logan announces that our Transportation and Logistics Department founder and Shareholder, John L. Alden, suddenly passed away on April 5, 2021, while on vacation with his wife Kathy of 15 years in Phoenix, Arizona.
As you may know, John and his experienced legal team joined the Luper family in April of 2018 and, in three too-short years, not only merged his decades of experience into LNL, but in fact grew his/that/our practice significantly in a very short time, both locally and nationally, in what was the ultimate book-end to a prolific and storied legal career. LNL was and is blessed and grateful for John to have joined us, and to have shared his encyclopedic wisdom with us in those fields – as he did with so many of you during his 50+ years of service to the industry.
John was an icon in the transportation and logistics field. A long-time member of the Conference of Freight Counsel, the Transportation Lawyers Association, an active Trustee of the Ohio Trucking Association, and so many more important organizations and causes, John spent his career assisting clients large and small to navigate the intricacies of this fast-paced world – a pace that John himself maintained with vigor until he began slowing down in September, 2019.
Built from the ground up, John’s team has long represented clients ranging from local motor coach and motor carrier companies to the largest nationwide carriers, including specialized carriers of all types. In addition to providing transportation and warehousing counsel, John litigated cases in agencies and courts and achieved beneficial results representing clients in legislation pending before the Ohio State General Assembly. John always kept his clients’ business needs and best interests in mind and worked to develop legal strategies to meet those needs.
John was not only a friend – but a mentor – to other attorneys in the firm. Luper Neidenthal & Logan will honor his memory and legacy by continuing to provide the same expertise to the clients in these industries that John so graciously imparted upon us and his clients over the years. John will be greatly missed but we find comfort and pride in knowing that his legacy, of course, will conspicuously endure here.
