BIOGRAPHY
Erik Mikkelson is a Shareholder with Luper Neidenthal & Logan, where his practice focuses on business and transactional matters, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, estate planning, and government relations.
Erik advises business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and closely held companies on a wide range of transactional and strategic matters. His practice includes business acquisitions and sales, business formation and governance, commercial contracts, commercial real estate and leasing, and business succession planning. Erik takes a practical, business-minded approach to his legal practice, with an emphasis on helping clients structure transactions, manage risk, and reach workable solutions.
Erik also counsels individuals and families on estate and succession planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, real estate transfers, and planning for the transition of family and closely held business assets.
In addition to his legal practice, Erik has extensive experience in government relations and public policy. He leads Luper Neidenthal & Logan’s government relations practice, representing businesses, associations, nonprofit organizations, and public-sector clients before the Ohio General Assembly, executive agencies, and state and local government. His work includes legislative and regulatory strategy, economic development, public funding, energy and infrastructure policy, and helping clients navigate matters at the intersection of business, law, and government.
Prior to joining Luper Neidenthal & Logan, Erik spent nearly eleven years with Hicks Partners, a Columbus-based government affairs and business consulting firm, where he developed and implemented legislative and regulatory strategies for clients across a broad range of industries and policy areas.
Erik began his career in Ohio state government, serving in both the legislative and executive branches. He worked in the Ohio Senate, including as Clerk of the Senate Public Utilities and Government Oversight and Reform Committees, and later served as Legislative Liaison for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. These roles provided Erik with firsthand experience in the legislative, regulatory, and administrative processes that continue to inform his work for clients today.
Erik’s combination of transactional legal experience and government affairs work allows him to advise clients on both their immediate legal needs and the broader business, regulatory, and governmental considerations affecting their objectives.
