About Fred

Fred Luper is a founding member of LNL and currently of counsel with the firm. Originally from Columbus, Fred graduated from Cornell University and returned to his home town to go to law school and form his own firm. Fred has been doing Bankruptcy Trustee work since 1964 and became a member of the Chapter 7 Trustee Panel at its inception in 1978 with the passage of the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 1978. He served as a Chapter 11 Trustee for the Bankruptcy Court to run the liquidation of a public company and recovered over a 100% dividend for the company creditors. Fred was appointed to be a Receiver for a federal court to oversee a high profile case involving the fraudulent sale of viaticals. In addition to his active bankruptcy practice, Fred handles commercial litigation. He shares the record malpractice verdict in Allen County, Ohio, and has had two $4,000,000+ malpractice settlements. Fred lives with his wife Carol in the Columbus area where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

In February, 2011, Fred completed participation in a 5 week jury trial involving breach of an executive employment agreement, breach of a stockholder’s agreement and misappropriation of trade secrets. LNL’s client received verdicts on all 3 claims for a total of $7,000,000. Our client plans to apply for pre-judgment interest (about $3,000,000) and legal fees.
