Greg is the Chairperson of the firm’s Litigation Department.
Greg has been litigating a variety of tort and business cases across New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Ohio since 1989. Prior to moving to the representation of plaintiffs
in complex litigation exclusively, Greg brings to the table a number of years of
experience as a defense lawyer, having worked for several prestigious litigation
firms on behalf of national insurance companies, and Fortune 500 companies, before
“changing sides”. He now uses the tactics developed by his former defense “mentality”
on behalf of the firm’s clients, and believes that his balanced experience levels
the playing field for his small business clients against larger institutions/companies.
Over the past five years, Greg has specialized in the practice of representing plaintiffs
in complex tort and complex commercial litigation in State and Federal Courts including
business torts, contracts, employment matters, civil rights and discrimination/harassment
cases, and intellectual property cases at both the trial and appellate levels. He
also has nineteen-plus years of first-chair litigation experience defending
general casualty, product liability, professional liability (medical, nursing and dental),
and insurance coverage claims.
Active in his community, Greg is also the father of five and, in his “free” time,
enjoys fishing, golf and guitar.
Greg’s recent accomplishments include the following:
- Successfully defended an Ohio limited liability company from hostile ownership/membership
claims, thereby preserving a $7.5 million Brecksville property as company asset,
and setting new precedent in Ohio limited liability company law (Matthews v. D’Amore,
2006-Ohio-5745)
- Obtained the highest jury verdict in Ohio state-court history, a $212 million verdict
in a complex commercial case involving fraud, misrepresentation, breach of contract,
misappropriation of trade secrets, non-disclosure, merger and acquisition, successor
liability, financing and intellectual property (patent) issues (Telxon v. Smart
Media of Delaware, Inc., September 2003; appellate proceedings pending)
- Established, staffed, and managed the Cleveland law office of a Philadelphia-based
product liability, mass/toxic tort litigation firm
- Acted as lead defense counsel for a Fortune 500 company, various manufacturers,
and a defense group defending toxic tort and complex product liability claims both
nationally and locally, supervising and directing outside counsel in the process
