Meritas Leadership Institute Green Initiative

LNL is proud to have two attorneys who are members of the Meritas  Leadership Institute. Brigid Heid and David Scott are among ten attorneys selected to take part in the Leadership Institute, a year-long project that is studying how sustainability initiatives are creating new industries and changing the way that many existing industries do business. The Institute's three main goals are to (i) anticipate how the marketplace sustainability shift impacts businesses (new and existing), (ii) study how these changes may give rise to new legal challenges for business in new and/or evolving industries, and (iii) examine how Meritas can collectively harness the knowledge of member firms and to educate members about how to help businesses meet those challenges.

A fourth goal is to establish a "best sustainability practices" seal of approval for Meritas firms. The Leadership Institute is striving to help Meritas become a sustainability leader among law firm networks by adopting and encouraging sustainable business practices.

The first three goals will be advanced by way of the Round Table Discussion with representatives from companies sharing their industry knowledge (i.e., attorneys, clients, and potential clients) that are experiencing growth/change/challenges as a result of sustainability imperatives and attorneys who are already addressing these issues. The fourth goal will be advanced by way of a "Law Firm Best Practices" guide for how Meritas firms can adopt more sustainable and efficient business practices.
