Save Your
Money! … Forget Bottled Water and Try the LNL Water Filtration System!
In 2006, reports indicate that Americans drank over
31 billion liters of bottled water. Did you know that in order to make all those bottles, it takes 90,000 tons of plastic, which take 1.5 million barrels of oil to manufacture? The greenhouse gas emitted to make that plastic is equivalent to
the emissions of 500,000 cars. Not to mention that most of the water is trucked
over 500 miles across the US –much even farther that that – thus doubling the impact
on the climate. Unfortunately it doesn’t end there. After drinking that wonderful
bottle of water (40% of bottled water sold in the US is just filtered tap water),
86 % of Americans throw the empty bottle in the trash, rather than recycle it. Landfill
space is then consumed by billions of bottles of plastic that leak chemicals into
the groundwater and take over 1000 years to biodegrade. Ouch! Not to mention most
pay about 1 penny a gallon for tap water, but $10 a gallon for bottled water. And you thought gas prices were high!
Obviously, Americans addiction to bottled water is
a problem and we have the solution! Instead of buying bottled water, bring in a
reusable water container or a pitcher and fill it up at the LNL Water Filter! In
September of 2002 we installed an Oasis water filter in the kitchen. You may not be aware that the water fountain and the coffee maker are also run through a filter.
Our Oasis water filter goes beyond the minimum standard requirements of water filtration
systems and removes lead and other contaminants to provide employees and guests
with good, clean water.
Remember, you can’t always trust the source or the
content of the bottled water you buy at the store, but you can trust the water you
drink here at LNL.
So stop spending $10/gallon on that bottled water.
Put some extra cash in your pocket and switch to the LNL filtered water today!

HOME TIP OF THE WEEK
Here are a few tips from MSNBC's Fit List on how to burn
some calories, but tread lightly on the planet:
- Get outta here: Electrically powered exercise machines
require a lot of juice to operate. Consider using your own muscle power and taking your workout into the great outdoors, instead. The fitness gurus at MSNBC recommend
stopping along the way to strength train by using your body weight for resistance
with lunges, squats, push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and step-ups.
- Unplug at home:
If outdoor exercise isn't an option, you can still create a home gym using equipment
that requires you to generate the power yourself, such as dumbbells, tubing, jump
ropes, and self-powered spinning bikes and rowing machines.
- Dress for success:
For workout clothes and accessories, give sustainable fibers such as organic cotton
and bamboo a spin. You can even find sneakers with significant recycled content
these days, yoga bags made out of hemp...you get the idea. When you've worn out
your old clothes, recycle them.
